Tuesday’s Blog – What’s in your Sights?
Proverbs 17:24 – Wisdom is in the sight of him who has understanding, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.
Comments and Challenges
Lay that pencil down, man! Pick that pencil up again, man! These are the thoughts that at times are like lightening in my mind. This is why I decided to stop writing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then someone said, “Jess just do a shorter devotional on those days”. “Okay” I replied, but in seeking this, I found there is an increasingly urgency to write more.
Thus I am like the man who fell off the cliff of a high mountain, only to find himself wedged between the face of the cliff and a protruding rock. His remark was; “I’m stuck between a rock and a hard spot. (I heard that’s a true story). Proverbs are a way of extracting wisdom and understanding from the world around us and it would be foolish to curb our understanding of things at the end of the street.
And yet we need to be very careful with “the so called wisdom found on the ends of the earth and even that which is found and the end of the street”. In fact; the Holy Bible is very clear on this subject and why the Proverbs found there are Spiritually rewarding while the proverbs of the world are so devilishly foolish.
Notice for example Proverbs 18:1 – A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment. Have you considered a wounded animal? The animal will find a safe place and rest, they will lick the wound often, removing dirt, infection and bugs, then after a while the wound will heal and things for the animal will return normal.
This may seem like sound wisdom for a human to do too, but we are not an animal and God in His wisdom created us in His image and even if that image is fallen and it is; we are still human and not animal. Notice the intended image: Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in His (God’s) own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Now you know the events that followed; mankind sinned against God, God holds mankind accountable to that sin: Note Genesis 5:1 – This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. However; Genesis 5:3 tells us the results of Adam’ sin. “And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his (Adam’s) image and named him Seth.” I believe the Hebrew word for Seth means “substitute” or in place of.
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22 the guilty verdict for sin is death; however there is Now God’s substitute for that penalty of “death” the pathway to forgiveness and restoration in the image and likeness of God is found in the “Substitutionary Death” of our LORD and Savior; Jesus Christ who is the expressed image of God as explained in Hebrews 1:1-4.
Come on now… I have done most of the work for you, you can look up Hebrews 1:1-4 on your own!
Hebrews 9:28 - so Christ was offered to bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for Him shall He appear a second time without sin unto salvation. Jesse <><
